Former Raymond Chairman Vijaypat Singhania has passed away at the age of 87, his son, Gautam Singhania, announced in a social media post. His funeral will take place this afternoon at the Chandanwadi crematorium in Mumbai.

While Vijaypat Singhania and his son, Gautam Singhania, currently share a healthy relationship, there was a time when their relationship soured, and in an interview at the time, Vijaypat stated that he had made a grave mistake by handing over Raymond's reins to his son.

Bitterness in relationships

In an interview, Vijaypat Singhania openly revealed the strain in their father-son relationship.

He alleged that his son had thrown him out of the house and was now also having a dispute with his wife, Nawaz Modi. Vijaypat said that if his daughter-in-law came to him for help, he would support her.

Empty hands despite giving everything

Vijaypat Singhania said that he had handed over his entire property and business to his son, but received nothing in return.

According to him, even the promise of a share in the company was not fulfilled. He also said that he now had to struggle to make ends meet.

The situation worsened after 2015

It is said that in 2015, Vijaypat Singhania handed over the full reins of Raymond Group to his son. Subsequently, the dispute between the two escalated.

The issue of a flat escalated to the point where Vijaypat was forced to leave his home and move into a rented house.

Lessons on Family and Property

Vijaypat Singhania also offered a lesson from this entire controversy. He said that parents should not hand over their entire wealth to their children during their lifetime.

According to him, such a decision could create problems in the future.

This family rift within a major business house like Raymond has now become a topic of public debate, highlighting the importance of balancing relationships and property.
