Amid Middle East tensions, significant news has emerged for India. Iran has opened the Strait of Hormuz for friendly nations, including India. This means all Indian ships will be able to enter the country.

This is crucial for LPG and diesel-petrol supplies. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Thursday that he has granted permission for ships from friendly nations, including India, to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had asked Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz, after which the Iranian Foreign Minister issued a statement saying that we have reopened the Strait of Hormuz for our friendly countries like India, Russia, China, Iraq and Pakistan.

Sharing a post on Instagram, the UN Secretary-General said that the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz is disrupting the movement of oil, gas and fertilizers.

Due to this, not only countries but also civilians are suffering serious losses and living in an environment of extreme insecurity.

The UN is working to mitigate the consequences of the war, and the best way to mitigate those consequences is clearly to end the war immediately.

The prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz is choking the movement of oil, gas & fertilizer at a critical moment in the global planting season.

Across the region & beyond, civilians are enduring serious harm & living under profound insecurity.

Earlier on March 25th, Iran's mission in New York announced that certain ships would be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. In a post on X, they stated that non-hostile ships,

meaning those that do not engage in or support Iran, can safely pass through. However, they must comply with all Iranian security regulations and this permission will be granted only under the supervision of Iranian authorities.

Non-hostile vessels, including those belonging to or associated with other States, may—provided that they neither participate in nor support acts of aggression against Iran and fully comply with the declared safety and security regulations—benefit from safe passage through the
